Do you have any travel fees?

Accepted Answer

Starting January 12th, 2025, we will not charge travel fees, with the exception of flights. Instead, any travel expenses related distant weddings will be calculated and baked into the cost. Until then: Yes, if the distance is >1.5 hour drive from K.S.Otter Events' location (ZIP: 27265), or if we're required to stay beyond 11:30 pm for drives >45 min from K.S.Otter Events' location. Outside of these bounds, we require flight/hotel coverage (for the planner and assistant(s)), plus a $200 travel fee to cover other travel expenses. Some of this is waived for the Wilmington, NC area (inquire for more info).

Question 2

What does a first planning meeting with you look like?

Accepted Answer

We'd sit down and go through your priorities and budget for the event. We'd come up with a suitable budget based on your priorities, and we'd then come up with some action items to accomplish over the next month. Nothing too hard for you, of course! We try to only give our couples the FUN tasks (like picking out a suit or dress!)!

Are you LGBT-friendly?

Absolutely! Allyship is one of our core values: so much so that we never work with any vendor who isn't LGBT-friendly. We screen every vendor for this before putting them on our trusted vendors list. We've also received training from The Gay Agenda Collective and strive to make all our couples feel comfortable, regardless of which part of the rainbow they are a part of! We are also part of the Safe Space Alliance, which provides safe spaces to LGBTQIA+ people. Our space is "digital" until your wedding day!

Can we meet with you in-person?

Accepted Answer

Maybe! It depends on your location and situation. We love meeting in-person with our planning couples for the first planning consultation as well as the final venue walkthrough. We are also happy to meet with you virtually. Our full-service planning clients are allotted more time (especially for venue tours and tastings), so we can meet more often for that package. All conversations prior to booking with us are virtual / over the phone.

Do you work with specific vendors, or can we choose our own?

Although we have a list of trusted vendors, as well as a list of absolutely amazing preferred vendors (who we have exclusive deals with!), we are always hoping to get to know new and awesome vendors who are perfect for your wedding! We help you find them, no issues or concerns whatsoever.

Are you licensed & insured?

We are licensed through the NC Dept of Revenue (you can find our business name registered with the NC Secretary of State as K.S.Otter Events), & we are insured through NEXT insurance.

Are you certified?

Accepted Answer

Yes! We have certifications through The Union Network (by Jamie Wolfer), The Gay Agenda Collective, and Timeline Genius. Our business is a proud member of the Association of Bridal Consultants, as well as the Certified Wedding Professionals (CWP) Society. These are the largest certification programs in the United States.

How many weddings do you plan per year, and do you have any other events on our wedding day?

We can plan three weddings on the same day, since we currently have a team of 3 lead planners, but this depends on team availability, and we may plan a Friday wedding and a Saturday wedding on the same weekend. Our team is growing, so we can take on more weddings per year than a solopreneur, typically 15-20 weddings per planner per year. That said, we book out fast. It's first come first served, so we recommend inquiring as soon as possible.

Do you have a backup plan if, on wedding day, your lead coordinator can't make it due to an emergency?

Absolutely. In case of emergency, we always have a backup coordinator. This coordinator is always trained and is someone we trust- it's never someone's aunt Susie! Your wedding is in good hands with us.

Does our wedding **have to be** eco-friendly?

Accepted Answer

Not at all! While sustainability is our passion, we welcome all couples and are here to support your vision, whether you’re aiming for an eco-friendly wedding or something else entirely. We’re happy to offer tips for going green, but we’ll tailor everything to suit your unique style. We admit, we don’t usually attract the couples who want to burn a tire as a ceremony ritual (Not kidding- someone said this to us. How silly! If they jest, we jest.)
