On your wedding day, you want to look like the best version of yourself. It’s one of your happiest days and you want everything to be perfect, especially your makeup, because all eyes are on you! New York City based makeup artist Michelle Coursey has years of experience and can help you look beautiful, elegant and radiant. Michelle is an accomplished makeup artist with years of experience in the beauty industry. She specializes in the clean, flawless, elegant makeup that brides want. She understands that brides want to look their absolute best on their wedding day, but still look like themselves.

Michelle has more than 20 years of experience in the beauty industry, not just in bridal makeup, but in the fashion and commercial makeup as well. Her work has appeared in countless magazines, both nationally and internationally, as well as on the runway, the red carpet and television. Her clients appreciate not just her flawless technique, but also her calm demeanor and soothing touch, which is so important on their big day. Please note: I do not provide hairstyling services but I can provide the names of some wonderful hairstylists that do.

We sit down and talk about what kind of makeup you’re used to wearing, and what style you’d like to wear on your wedding day. It’s very helpful at this point to have pictures of makeup looks that appeal to you and that you would like to try so we’re both on the same page. After we decide on the look you like, I do the application and then make any adjustments you think necessary.

During the trial, we will talk about exactly how much makeup you’re comfortable wearing, what you’re used to, and what look you’re going for on your wedding day. It’s important to remember though that you’ll be dressed differently than any other day, and will also be photographed, so it's important to take that all into account.

I prepare the face for long-lasting wear by using primers on the face and eyes to prevent face oils from combining with the makeup and moving around. In addition, airbrush makeup is inherently long-wearing because of the way it is applied and can last all day without moving at all. I've always had very good reviews from my clients regarding the longevity of my makeup application!

I do not do hair for weddings, but I’m happy to refer some amazing hairstylists to you who have years of experience in the beauty industry and are masters of their craft.

We will discuss how many people are getting ready and when they need to be ready by, and will come up with a schedule so everything is organized and stress-free. Ideally, I prefer to allot 1 hour for the bride and 45 minutes for each additional person. I will build in extra time so you have time to get into your dress, I can take a final look, and there won’t be any rushing.

Absolutely! I’m based in New York City but I’m happy to travel to wherever your wedding is taking place, either nationally or internationally. I've had clients fly me as far away as Turkey and Hawaii to do their wedding makeup. Please contact me with the details of your wedding so we can discuss travel rates.

I cannot recommend Michelle highly enough! From start to finish, the experience was exceptional. I have never received so many compliments on my makeup—it was timeless, beautifully executed, and lasted flawlessly throughout the entire day. Not to mention, she was such a fun addition chatting away with us girls :) One of the most meaningful moments for me was hearing my mom repeatedly talk about how pretty she felt. She made us feel confident, comfortable, and genuinely beautiful on such an important day. I am so grateful for her artistry and professionalism and would wholeheartedly recommend her to any bride.

Michelle is an amazing makeup artist. As a black bride now wife, I was worried about finding an artist who knows how to work with darker skin tones. I found her through reddit recommendations on the nyc wedding subreddit and I am happy I did. Michelle can do it all! She works with clients of all skin tones and undertones so I was less nervous about going to her. I have a natural but better type of makeup preference since I rarely wear makeup and Michelle did an amazing job. I felt so beautiful during my trial and wedding day. She really listens to my feedback and was able to figure out what I was looking for by the pictures and how I described it. She is so responsive to her emails, very personable, and easy going. She traveled to me at my hotel to get ready and I was able to book her for an hour after the ceremony just in case. The makeup stayed on all night. She helped make my day so special and I am forever grateful.

Michelle did the makeup for my wedding and I could not have been happier! She understood what I wanted, and completely nailed it. (We were a big group and she brought a second MUA with her, who was also amazing!) Everyone absolutely loved their makeup, and we all looked flawless all day and night. There were lots of tears and sweaty dancing, and not one smear. She was also super easy to work with, very responsive, and transparent about pricing, timing, etc. Lastly, she was just a pleasure to be around throughout the day. Michelle is so relaxed, and that's what you need there are dozens of people swarming you and asking questions all day. When I got in the makeup chair, it was the opposite. She knew exactly what to do, and finally I had no more decisions to make! If you're wondering whether to book her for your wedding, the answer is: don't think twice about it.

Michelle was a total joy to work with from start to finish. We met a few months before the wedding at her home for a makeup trial; I was enthusiastic about the look she created but requested a few modifications, which she graciously incorporated. We went for an understated, natural look that made me feel like the best version of myself. On the day of the wedding Michelle was calm, collected, and professional, and helped me to feel centered in the middle of the storm of activity. I was very happy with how my makeup turned out! I highly recommend working with Michelle.
