My interest in photography began at age 16 when my brother brought home a used Canon A1 from a pawn shop. My persistent attraction to the art of photography led me to the Savannah College of Art and Design where I received a BFA in Photography. I then ventured to Asheville, NC where I was surrounded by a creative community of artists and found a niche preserving timeless images of love-classics. Fast forward many years later, I now live in Washington D.C. which serves as my home base for my continuing adventures.

Taking photos is the source of Joy Asico’s happiness. An avid traveller, Joy’s camera is her best traveling companion. She’s captured natural beauty like beautiful sunrises in South Africa, epic sunsets in Thailand, and even the elusive northern lights in Iceland. While in those countries she experienced different cultures and scenery which has improved Joy’s perspective as well as various photography techniques. Hi! I'm Nina and I run Ivy & Quartz photography! I shot my first wedding in 2013, but my journey with photography began long before that. When I was about 10 years old, my dad gave me a camera and I quickly became obsessed. My intrigue continued to grow over the years and I went on to earn my BA in Studio Art , Photography, from the University of Virginia. After graduating I worked as a portrait photographer and decided to pursue and earn my MFA in Imaging Arts from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
