She took the time to thoroughly understand our vision and musical tastes, making thoughtful suggestions along the way. Communication was prompt, fun, and Meredith was so approachable throughout the planning process. On the big day, the band blew us away with their incredible talent and ability to perfectly execute our song requests, from jazz to oldies to classic rock. As musicians ourselves, we were so impressed by their skill level and experience and professionalism. During cocktail hour, two musicians played jazz, then they switched to rock mode for the reception. They truly made it feel like our own personal concert and kept people on the dance floor for literally 3 hours! The energy was palpable from their very first note, and their song selections kept guests of all ages dancing all night long. They ended the evening with “Purple Rain” by Prince and it made my life. We can't recommend the Lucky Devils Band highly enough - they were total professionals and our biggest splurge, but SO worth it I’d do it a million times over!!”

“TLDR: Hiring Modern Highway for our wedding was, hands down, the best decision my wife and I made for our big day. First and foremost, they are all talented, professional, and brought a large repertoire to the table. Christina is a fantastic singer, with big range. She is also a great business person, again with exceptional range - handling our light, acoustic service music, our post-wedding cocktail music, and our reception music. All live - which kicked the sheeet out of a DJ. She also MC’d. For weddings, hitting hitches is bad - there were none. The long version: Our wedding was a Sunday. It was in a more remote area from LA - Temecula. My wife had just been injured in a car accident - so we were a little nervous but the event was still a go with many people flying in. I am a musician and my wife and I had made the decision that live music was what we wanted for our big celebration. In hindsight, my only regret is the Sunday wedding because we hired Modern Highway to do our music and they were on fire. And some guests had to think about…Monday. But Christina and the band really held things together. It was a fun event and a big piece of that was the music. Christina brought a tremendous amount of energy. Her voice is electric and, when it came time to dance, the band brought it. Christina was very active moving through the crowd, dancing and singing. It is so hard to do that well - to be the energy. Where we needed “other” services, for first dances, parent dances, introductions, ceremony, etc., Christina & Modern Highway had it all covered. In a few cases we needed streamed music - covered. We needed someone to make the event go from the mic - covered. In a unique circumstance, my own band wanted to play - covered. If I’d been them, I would have said no. And frankly, based on what I saw from Christina, we could not have had a better person handling the mic that night. My wife and I look back on our wedding day as a true blessing - a day we were ecstatic about on the spot. I know a big piece of our internal satisfaction is knowing the entertainment was top notch. I wish Christina could have been our photographer as well!”

He knew the right times to change the music and he was absolutely hysterical by joking around with our guests and even being playful when introducing key songs. He really cares about his work and the service he provides. He goes above and beyond to make you feel special and taken care of and is someone I would hire for any event that I throw in the future. I had a phenomenal time working with him. I will say don't be stressed if he doesn't respond to your text messages. He is definitely somebody that will answer a phone call more often than a text. But nevertheless, he shows up and provides incredible service with a smile and I couldn't have asked for our event to go any better. He really really did a great job. Just make sure that you put everything you want in his app because he uses that to make sure that he does what you're asking of him. All of your comments all of your needs. Any specific songs you want played are all in there, so be sure to stay on top of that so that you can guarantee a wonderful experience like I had. I can't say this enough. Hire him. Our goal was for a dance vibe type of wedding but there were a few miscues with the songs she played. We’d hope she would read the room better and continue to play songs that she noticed people were enjoying but her transitions between songs were a bit odd. The Susie Hansen Latin Band is a popular and well-known Southern California band playing 100 to 150 weddings, special events, concerts and festivals every year. Our specialty is Latin dance music - salsa, cumbia, merengue, bachata, bolero, and cha cha cha. If you'd like popular music, we can also play disco, swing, R&B, funk, Motown, classic rock and jazz standards like Frank Sinatra. We have three terrific lead singers -- our vocalist/conga player who sings lead on all the Latin styles; Susie on electric violin and bilingual vocals; our electric guitarist who sings lead vocals in English. There was also an option to request non-repertoire songs for a small fee. Of particular note, we were deciding between two different songs for our processional (including one off-repertoire), and Paulina sent us samples (for free!) so we could hear the arrangements and directly compare them before making our final decision. “We hired Bob Gail's dance band "Higher Ground" for our wedding last month at the Bel Air Bay Club. Having a live band at our wedding was always my dream but admittedly not my fiancee's or her family's. Any skepticsim completely evaporated by the time the wedding reception started. Our band--11 pieces, including trombone--was spectacular. I really can't say enough about how fun the evening was with Higher Ground leading the dance floor. We, and all our guests, danced non-stop. From start to finish, the band's song selections perfectly matched the energy throughout the evening. Every member was super talented, with the lead singers perfectly capturing the sound and feel of the original songs but with an energy that is only possible performed live. We were seriously impressed with their sheer versatility, jumping effortlessly between different genres and eras. We also had a few specific requests that the band very flexibily accommodated. We had choreography for our first dance and the band offered to rehearse with us before the reception. We also wanted to play some recorded songs during the band's breaks and they wove our songs into their own set list seamlessly. Bob Gail also offered a very intuitive song selection tool on which we could specify which songs we wanted to hear at the wedding. They even went out of their way to learn a song that was not part of their set list but that they knew we love. The band members were also incredibly friendly and gracious. They felt like a part of the family for the night. Even now, a month after the wedding, we still have family members tell us how great the band was and one guest even told me she can't wait to hire them for her own son's wedding no matter the cost.”
