In 1910, President Taft signed the bill to establish Glacier National Park as the country’s 10th national park. Mr. Healy was given a plumbing contractor for the train depot here in St. Paul, where he met Samuel Bartlett, the architect of many of the railroad depots and Glacier National Park Lodge. Healy then commissioned Bartlett to renovate and enlarge the house. In 1914, the farm was sold to John Healy, the owner of Healy Plumbing and Heating Company of St. Paul. Mr. Healy’s company became closely tied to the Great Northern Railroad, as it provided the heating and plumbing for many of the train depots that were being built around the country at that time. The farm was named Hope Glen Farm, the name of John Healy’s mother’s maiden name of Hope, and the house settles in a Glen, thus Hope Glen.

Almquist Farm is a fifth generation family farm homesteaded by Charles Almquist after he immigrated from Sweden in 1890. The Capitol Room is located in the newly renovated historic armory of Saint Peter, Minnesota built-in 1913. The main ballroom is resplendent with over twenty chandeliers and hundreds of twinkling Edison bulbs all under a beautiful original wooden barrel-vaulted ceiling. Complimented by a backdrop of exposed brick and plaster. We have amazing suites for both the bride, groom, and bridal party. These suites have been carefully curated with a mix of modern and vintage furniture and the walls are covered with funky art that is flirtatious and nostalgic.
