How much does hair and makeup cost for a wedding?

According to Thumbtack, wedding makeup artists cost $90–$475 per person on average in 2022. Here at Zola, we recommend putting aside around $300 for your own wedding hair and makeup. Services for wedding party members are generally less expensive, as the artist or stylist will spend less time perfecting the look. Be sure to have a transparent conversation with your wedding party if you expect them to cover their own costs.

How long does wedding hair and makeup take to do?

The more involved the look, the more time it will take. In general, allocate 60–90 minutes for your own looks and 30–45 minutes for each member of the wedding party. Extensions, extra thick hair, and intricate makeup all take longer. Communicating who (with pictures and descriptions) is getting what (again, with photos) to your stylists will help them plan an accurate timeline.

Who usually pays for hair and makeup for the wedding party?

Traditionally, whoever is asking for the services should pay. However, this may not be in the budget for every couple. If you’re planning on having your wedding party pay, be transparent when you first ask them to be in the wedding party itself. Then, they can choose whether it’s possible for them to participate.

How much should we tip for our wedding hair and makeup artists?

A good rule of thumb is to tip 15–20%.

You could tell by the way that they each talked about their work that they were really passionate about what they were doing and really cared about how you felt and wanted to look and made sure you were completely happy before packing up. Our artists will help you to narrow down your inspiration photos and create the Bridal look you have always dreamed of. Ann prides herself in taking away the stress of wedding morning preparations with beauty services brought to your location and following a timeline customized to meet your needs. Please note that there is a six person hair and makeup minimum (or equal service dollar amount) requirement per booking on Friday- Sunday in April through December.

Erica, my hairstylist was great, she even made adjustments after our trial to allow for movement and softness while still holding the curl. “Being a curly-haired bride, I was very nervous about finding a hairstylist who could tame my mane for my wedding day. After speaking with Sophia, all of my fears melted away. She reassured me in her abilities to give life to my curls with her tiny curl wand. I don’t think my curls have ever looked better in my ENTIRE LIFE; I cried when I saw myself in the mirror because of how beautiful I looked. My bridesmaids (who have a variety of hair types) had hair that was equally as stunning and were just as pleased as I was. My hair lasted all day (through lots of dancing) and was only held in place by five bobby pins; Sophia is a magician! In addition to her hair abilities, Sophia brought such a positive and warm energy to the bridal suite.
